at the same time, i also filled in application form for employment pass to be submitted yesterday. the processing time is about 2-3 weeks, and might take another week if mom (ministry of manpower) requests for medical check-up. the hr (human resource) estimated that i should be able to work on June 6th (almost a month...T_T).
on sunday night, i went to igda singapore forum and saw a job posting from g-gadget, which is a subsidiary of genki japan (http://www.genki.co.jp/). the following are the ideal candidate they are looking for:
- good bachelor's degree in computer engineering or computer science.
- strong knowledge and foundation in c, c++, and java.
- strong mathematical foundation in 3d system.
- knowledge in the following areas will be considered a plus:
- 3d graphics systems ie opengl and directx
- physics - ability to work effectively as a team player
- a positive attitude no matter the circumstance
- a passion for making great games!
lets see my qualifications for this job:
- bachelor of science in computer science, plus associate of science in game design and development
- 3 years experiences in c/c++ and 4 years for java. how about stl, win32, mfc, and java swing? ^^.
- calculus 1, calculus 2, (somewhat) calculus 3, and extensive training in 3d math during my study at full sail real world education (did they change to full sail university? lately many people mentioned full sail is a university, must be the bachelor degree they offer).
- lets see now...i know opengl, directx, and renderware. physics? i was the physics guy on my final project, made my own collision detection and resolution routines, and using physics middleware, novodex physics sdk. actually i prefer working on graphics engine, but one of my teammates already took that role; so, i decided to pick my second interest role in game development (the third one is artificial intelligence, and the fourth one is tools, fyi ^^).
- you can ask my teammates on how well i performed ^^v.
- a lot of people (classmates and staffs...how could they!!! T_T) doubted that we would be able to finish our game. the theme in our final project presentation was: "ha! in your face!" (i just made that up ^^).
- hmm...remind me again why i went to full sail? any wild guess? ^^v
wow, i think i might get that job. but, i decided to take the job offer from nyp anyway. getting exhausted looking for a job for more than two months in singapore, no risky business please ^^'. of course, if nyp changed their mind on hiring me, i'm going to apply to g-gadget ^^.
about the disclaimer, do i need to give you explanation? i don't think so, correct? ^^. besides, i always wanted to put something like that on my website (well, this is a blog site but serves, somewhat, the same as a personal website ^^). most people post the disclaimer at the bottom of their website; i prefer to put at the top of the website and, hopefully, the reader read that first before continue reading my posting ^^ (i feel smart already...hehehe...). the next thing i would like to put on my website are: copyright, ©, years, my name, all rights reserved, and other legal stuffs. it will be so cool to have those on my website ^^.
that's pretty much the update on my job hunting. now, let me tell you a story related with this post's title ^^.
last saturday night i went to orchard to meet two of my high school friends (not best buds, but hey, i know them and they know me ^^). btw, i just have to ask this, is that our official high school website?!!?? no offense, but that is one of the lamest official websites for school i ever seen! i expect canisians can do better than that! update it please. ehem (*clear throat*)...lets go back on track with my story, shall we? ^^.
i pretty much lost contact with most of my high school buddies since august 1998 (go figure how long is that...lol). i think i am going to need a cca-dex build 1.9.98, jakarta version to recognize them. get it? what?!? no!?? cca-dex is shortened from canisius-college-alumni-dex, where dex is a rip-off from pokedex ^^'. holy macaroni and cheese!!! wikipedia has this kind of information!!! i guess it's a good thing for parents to know what their children talking about. anyway, build 1.9.98 is the year we graduated, and since there are a lot of canisius college around the world, i guess we need a jakarta version, to indicate it is the database for canisius college alumni in jakarta, indonesia ^^v.
there are a lot of canisius college alumni (from jakarta, of course) in singapore, and i gotta catch 'em all with my trusty imaginary cca-dex!!! i've met three and two still busy with their works (i assume ^^'). anyway, back to last saturday night. wow, they all looked have grown up and matured enough, and here i am still not mature enough (i don't wanna grow up, lets go to never land and meet peter pan!!! i can fly~ i can fly~ i can flyyy~~...). one of them, like others who for the first time meet me, told me that i looked like a 20-year-old boy. every time someone tell me that, i'm not sure if i should be happy or sad, should i thank them or not. i'm 25 but people always think i'm a freshman (between 18 and 20 years old). maybe i should erase all my background history up till now, have a plastic surgery, create my own background that stated i'm 18 years old, start a new life as a programmer genius because i know a lot of stuff when i enter college...sounds awesome, huh? ^^v.
wow, i'm so tangent in this post!!! sorry about that T_T. we went to holland road to meet one of my friends' singaporean friends (*phew*...a lot of 'friends' there ^^), but found out no one there at the meeting point. we decided to go to nydc cafe and restaurant to have beverage, the weather was so warm on that night. i was asked if nydc from the states, and the answer is: nope (i'm pretty sure...you can ask my cousin ^^v).
i ordered "love potion #23" (or was it #33? hmm...forget). the waitress told me it's quite big while both of her hands made somekind of big bowl. i told her that's not a problem (could share with my friends, anyway). turned out it was not that big, well, at least for me; and it's not a big bowl, just a unique-artistic medium glass (no, i cannot describe it, already forget about it -_-'). we had a chit-chat with each other, and still waiting for other friends to come.
*'kay, getting tired talking now, time to speed up the story...*
when they came, we had short introduction to each other, headed to the previous meeting point to meet others, found out all seats were taken, we -- all who met at nydc -- had to move to another place. unfortunately, it was already 2300, i wanted to catch up the last train and too lazy to take a cab (taxi) to go home (hey, i'm still a tourist here ^^'). there were two others who were tired and/or wanted to catch the last train also. we uncomfortably said goodbye and goodnight to others, and took a cab to drop us at near mrt station.
that was my first experience in mrt stations to catch up the last trains. the stations were noisy with announcer telling us "it is the last train to..."
erm...i close this post by saying: i went home safe and sound ^^.
ok...that's all people...have a wonderful...erm...night ^^'v.
